One of the great privileges of being alive in the body of a person (vs, like, a dolphin or a tree) is that we have the opportunity to share our stories and perspective and experiences with other people. Yes, it’s true someone else will ALWAYS be doing it, and doing it beautifully. But that doesn’t diminish the value of your own story. For a long time, I was reluctant to write publicly about any of this personal development/awareness/spirituality stuff, because I’m not saying anything NEW. These ideas are all as old as time, and they’ve all been expressed in different ways by other, wiser people. But eventually I got out of my own way. (I believe the phrase I’m looking for is “fuck it”?) Maybe something I share can help you suffer less than I did, or you’re smart enough to learn from my mistakes, or you need to make your own mistakes because that’s one of the cool features of the human existence, but it helps you to see evidence of someone else who’s taken a few dives down the stairs and hasn’t given up yet. I just know that I get to own my own story, and so do you.
